GUENTHER MATZINGER Guenther Matzinger is a two-time Paralympic champion in the 400m and 800m events at London 2012, setting a new world record in the latter. After an injury hit preparation for Rio 2016 he won the 400m bronze and then took up the new challenge of triathlon in 2017. The swim was always the biggest challenge for Matzinger, but he made his first start line in Aguilas, Spain in 2018 and has gone on to top the podium at the highest level at the 2020 WTPS Devonport. The 34-year-old was born without a lower right arm and competes in the PTS5 category. Selected as flag-bearer for their country at the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony.
