FOREWORD Dear Triathlon Family, Another magnificent year on the blue carpet has flown by and that can mean only one thing - the 2023 edition of the World Triathlon Yearbook is here! It has been a whirlwind 12 months and our sport and organisation have again led the way in world-class competition and entertainment throughout the year. The eight-part World Triathlon Championship Series included a very special Paris Test Event, we held a 14-stop World Triathlon Cup circuit, Mixed Relay Series and World Championships, 4 Para Series events, 8 Para Cups, the Para World Championships, the Ibiza Multisport World Championships, 3 Arena Games, the World Triathlon Winter Championships Skeikampen and a first E-Sport triathlon showcase in Singapore. I hope you enjoy looking back over all the action. My huge congratulations to Beth Potter and Dorian Coninx on the biggest prizes this year, as well as to every single one of our 2023 Elite, U23, Junior and Age-Group World Champions. Those fourteen World Cups were able to take place across all five TRI continents for the first time. We also held our first Para Cup in Malaga, home of the 2024 Championship Finals. The Paris Test Event gave us all hugely valuable foresight of what will be our 7th appearance on the Olympic Games programme and our third Paralympic Games. World Triathlon is working not just alongside the Paris Organisers but within it for the first time, and my thanks go to all involved. The pursuit and awarding of Sustainability Certification to our LOCs continues to be a big success and a gauge of our efforts to reduce the sport's impact on the environment. Thank you to all those who have taken the guidelines on board this year and made the changes that will allow future generations to be able to enjoy our sport just as we have been able to. Education will always be a central pillar of our work and we never stand still in that regard. World Triathlon is the leader that sets the standards and the rules for other organisations to follow, and that is thanks to our team's meticulous planning and innovation. If the Education Hub is its beating heart, our officials and coaches are the embodiment of it, as we and they have again established the highest levels by which our incredible sporting family is measured. Our Marketing Department has successfully renewed deals with our great partners ASICS and NTT, and, as you will see in the next pages, brought some exciting new companies into the World Triathlon ecosystem, paving the way for the sport's development both financially and practically. Our partnership with the PTO will bring enormous benefits to both parties and our athletes in 2024 and beyond, through exciting new racing opportunities over new distances and in new cities As always, my gratitude goes not just to our incredible athletes, the LOCs and our NFs but to the officials and the volunteers and all the people working so hard behind the scenes on the sport that they love. The World Triathlon Family continues to amaze and inspire me, and I hope you all know that your work will be forever appreciated. I hope you enjoy this retrospective of the 2023 season and reliving some of the best moments from another memorable year on the blue carpet. Here's to a spectacular 2024 as we continue to build towards Paris 2024! Yours in sport, 3 contents
