South Africa's Jamie Riddle and Vicky Van der Merwe triumphed at the Africa Triathlon Championships in Hurghada, Egypt. Riddle, still a U23 athlete, showcased his prowess as a formidable swimmer, emerging nearly a minute ahead of another pre-race favourite, Jawad Abdelmoula of Morocco. Working well with Badr Siwane on a relentless bike effort, Riddle secured a substantial lead he held over the run to claim his first Africa Championship, Siwane took second place, with Abdelmoula third. In the women's race, South Africa dominated with a podium sweep. Van der Merwe surged ahead on the run, securing her first continental title and finishing two and a half minutes ahead of Amber Schlebusch.
