The USA's rising talent John Reed took the elite men's gold at the 2023 Americas Triathlon Championships at Veracruz in Mexico, Rosa Maria Tapia of Mexico continuing her strong season by taking the women's win to the delight of the crowds. Reed was well placed out of the water and helped drive the lead group on the bike before a 31m43s time for the 10km saw him hold off Canada's Martin Sobey and Brock Hoel for the gold, Reed and Hoel also taking the U23 gold and silver. After coming out of the water just 10 seconds off leader Djenyfer Arnold of Brazil, Tapia rode hard and then put in an early surge on the run to find some daylight to the rest of the field, only for Gina Sereno to make her charge over the closing stages and push Tapia all the way, Mexico's rising star holding on for the gold, Sereno with silver ahead of Canada's Emy Legault. 3 Sept 2023 Veracruz, Mexico - Elite Men 213 Men Full Results Women Full Results contents
