The World Cup action moved to the beautiful Czech hillside town of Karlovy Vary, where a technical swim was led by Britain's Marcus Dey, closely pursued by Mark Devay, Simon Henseleit, and Nicolo Strada. Morgan Pearson, Samuel Dickinson and Martin Demuth were able to make up crucial ground on the leaders after the first lap and a group of eight athletes came together on the opening stage of the tough 40km bike, including Panagiotis Bitados and Alois Knabl. After a couple of fruitless attacks, it was on the fifth lap that Pearson initiated the decisive move, steadily pulling away and quickly building a sizable lead. Once out onto the run, the result never looked in any doubt as the American maintained his advantage of more than a minute while behind him, Devay and Jonas Schomburg battled for silver and bronze, both scoring their first World Cup podiums as the Hungarian dug in for second place. 10 Sep 2023 Elite Men 76 contents
