Tim Hellwig continued to enjoy his Asia tour with victory in Tongyeong in late October. It had been Jamie Riddle leading the men's field in the swim, closely followed by Dylan McCullough and Simon Westermann, but Hellwig and Ricardo Batista soon took control of the 20km bike course, part of a nine-strong group establishing a 20-second lead over the chasers, led by Casper Stornes. The front nine, including Jonas Schomburg and Sam Dickinson, enjoyed a 35-second cushion by the final transition, and they looked to set the pace out onto the early stages of the 5km run. Hellwig soon took control, however, even as the likes of Mislawchuk moved through the gears from the second pack, and the German managed to hold off the gutsy challenge of Ricardo Batista to take his second win of the season, the Portuguese in second just ahead of Dickinson in third. 21 Oct 2023 Elite Men 96 contents
