FESTIVAL ENVIRONMENT
As part of the event the LOC and City will be adding other festivities to attract and involve
spectators. Entertainment will be strategically placed on the course as well as Hawrelak Park
during the races and throughout the weekend. City Hall will be used for registration and
welcoming the world to Edmonton. Sir Winston Churchill Square (plaza outside of City Hall)
will host evening events such as Symphony in the Square, spin classes, demos, challenges, food
vendors and beer gardens to buildup excitement for the weekend of races.
OPENING CEREMONIES
The Opening Ceremonies and Parade of Nations will be held in Edmonton's new iconic Rogers
Place, the home to the Edmonton Oilers hockey team, in the heart of the new and vibrant ICE
District. The plan is to engage Edmonton Symphony Orchestra to headline this prestigious ITU
Grand Final Opening Ceremony. Edmonton is home to many Canadian Juno Award winners who
have successfully partnered with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in delivering exceptional
shows that embrace all genres. A 2019 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Opening Ceremony would
include the most prestigious performers in the city and deliver a superior cultural experience for the
athletes, visitors and local community. It will be a truly memorable Opening Ceremony experience.
The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a 'best in class' athlete dinner that will include
government partners, sponsors, supporters, and of course, ITU and Triathlon Canada family.
