World Triathlon

Heritage, expertise and ambition for the next generation Lausanne has played a role in the history of Triathlon but today, the focus is on the future of the sport in the Olympic Capital. With clear objectives and a long term vision, Lausanne is the perfect partner for the International Triathlon Union (ITU) who can best contribute to the continued growth of Triathlon worldwide. In order to do so, Lausanne plans to build on its strong assets. The way forward focuses on three key points which explain why Lausanne would be the perfect place to host the 2019 ITU International Triathlon Grand Final and help the ITU achieve its long term objectives. › A unique Olympic connection: the Olympic Capital as a stage Hosting the ITU Grand Final at the heart of the Olympic Capital would help the ITU as it con- tinues to strengthen its Olympic status. In 2019, just one year ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games, Lausanne would be the perfect stage to showcase the sport to the world, right from the heart of the Olympic Movement's home, in front of 55 international sports federations and organisations. What better way to highlight the Grand Final! › A strong expertise and capacity to innovate: at the service of tomorrow's Triathlon Lausanne has much experience in hosting large international sporting events and knows what it takes to make those events successful. This expertise creates room and space for innovation: in partnership with some of the leading academic and innovative partners such as EPFL (technology), IMD (management) and Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (hospitality), to name a few, Lausanne, together with the ITU can create tomorrow's triathlon events. The Olympic Capital's organising team will be fully committed to the event from now on and would therefore have time to work in close collaboration with ITU executives to shape the development of Triathlon for years to come. › An unlimited ambition: for the next generations of athletes and organisers Lausanne has a strong desire to be part of the future of Triathlon. Hosting the ITU Grand Final, just a few months before hosting the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, will allow a brand new generation not only of athletes, but also Triathlon organisers to take the baton forward.
