Lausanne 2019 Triathlon Courses The city of Lausanne has an extensive amount of expertise in organising international sport events that spans several decades – especially in Triathlon. Every year, Lausanne hosts a mass participation triathlon event and a round of the Swiss Triathlon championships, hel- ping to further expand the reach and development of the event in the region. For the 2019 Grand Final course itself, there has already been a good discussion with the ITU represen- tatives that has allowed produced a course aiming at offering great challenges to the par- ticipants. The Lausanne 2019 course runs across the city to offer spectators the opportunity to watch the athletes competing both at the heart of the city and along the lake side of beautiful Lake Geneva. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase the beautiful landscape of the city and its surroundings. The course has been ideally designed to encourage engagement with fans and to capture the attention of as many people as possible within the city of Lausanne. The Elite, U23, Team Relay and Junior categories share the same course, with only the num- ber of laps being different. The participants themselves will enjoy competing on the shores of the Lake Geneva and in the centre city of Lausanne. The Group Age course is slightly different as it goes all the way along the lake to the Univer- sity campus and then goes in town before getting back to the finish area on the "Place du Port". In order to create a unique celebration of the 2019 Grand Final in Lausanne, the finish area has been specially placed at the "Place du Port". This will allow for a great celebration of all athletes as the finish line will be located at the "Place du Port" for every category. What makes this location truly special is that it features a stadium-like area where the spectators would be able to see the athletes arriving and follow live action on big screens set up for the occasion. Being in the Olympic Capital, Lausanne 2019 wants to bring to life the feeling of Olympism and what better way than foe athletes to have the final moments in a cheery stadium much like Olympians.
