Haug showed her strength on the bike and run to destroy a quality field by 22 seconds, leaving Great Britain's Jodie Stimp- son and Australia's Emma Moffatt in second and third place respectively. In a marker for the season ahead, Haug reinforced her ability to nullify a poor swim with a brilliant bike leg and an ever improving run. Gomez moved to second on the all time list of ITU World Cup triathlon wins with his 13th career victory on a stunning day in Mooloolaba, running away from the field with ease as the popular Spani- ard laid down an early marker for 2013. Matt Chra- bot (USA) and Peter Kerr (AUS) battled stride for stride for the other spots on the podium, with the Chrabot just edging out Kerr at home.
