mouLai caps career With deBut Win
France's Tony Moulai knew that it was his last inter-
national ITU race, which made his Tongyeong triumph
all the more memorable. Moulai had to come from
behind after a breakaway of Tommy Zaferes and Ben-
jamin Shaw stuck and took a 45 second lead from
T2. However it didn't take long for the Frenchman to
reel them in, sticking to his plan to go as hard as pos-
sible early on. Moulai's tactics had played to perfec-
tion as he crossed the line ahead of Igor Polyanskiy
and Daniel Hofer, for his first career World Cup win.
In the women's race, Australia's Emma Jackson fini-
shed her season on a high with her first World Cup
win. Jackson was part of a seven-woman breakaway
on the bike and from T2 jumped straight to the lead.
By lap one she had a 25-second buffer on any
chasers and went on to win by 1 minute and 28
seconds. Behind Vendula Frintova ran herself back
into form and collected her first World Cup medal
since 2010, while Australia's Natalie Van Coevorden
shrugged off a 15-second penalty to collect her first
World Cup medal, a bronze.
