Great Britain again dominated the ITU Paratriathlon
World Championships, claiming six gold medals and
15 overall in the biggest world titles in history in London.
The closest finish of the day was in the men's TRI-1, when
Australia's Bill Chaffey engineered an incredible come-
back to beat the Netherlands' Jetze Plat for his fourth
Paratriathlon World Championship title. Chaffey took the
lead for the first time in the race with just 300m to go.
But he wasn't the only four-time World Champion as
Great Britain's Faye McClelland collected her quartet in
the women's TRI-4 division. A trio of paratriathletes com-
pleted hat-tricks in Hyde Park, France's Stephane Bahier
in the men's TRI-2, Canada's Jennifer Hopkins in the
women's TRI-3 and USA's Megan Fisher in the women's
TRI-5. Great Britain's Matt Emmerson, David Ellis and
Jane Egan also claimed multiples as they retained their
TRI-5, TRI-6B and TRI-1 titles respectively. It was also a
year for firsts, with Germany's Martin Schulz taking the
men's TRI-4, Italy's Michele Ferrarin taking the men's
TRI-3, the USA's Hailey Danisewicz collecting the women's
TRI-2, Great Britain's Melissa Reid victorious in the
women's TRI-6B, the USA's Ivonne Mosquera in the
women's TRI-6b and Great Britain's Chris Goodwin in the
men's TRI-6A.
Paratriathlon will make its Paralympic debut at the Rio
2016 Paralympic Games.
