In 2013 it was Russia's Pavel Andreev and the Czech Republic's Helena Erbenova who further asserted their domi- nance over the discipline, claiming their third and second consecutive Winter Triathlon World Champi- onships respectively in Cogne, Italy. In the men's race, Andreev's third world title was his most hard fought as he initially trailed Kristian Mon- sen (NOR), Evgeny Kirillov (RUS) and Italy's own Daniel Antonioli following the two-lap run course. A massive bike leg put Andreev back in contention for the podium, as he moved behind teammate Kirillov and in front of Antonioli. But on home snow the Italian fought back on the final ski leg and engaged Andreev in a fierce sprint to the finish. Andreev dug deep in the final metres, claiming the win by just over half a second. Antonioli took silver for the second time, while Kirillov crossed over 10 seconds later for bronze. Ebrenova showed her dominance across all three dis- ciplines, as she and teammate Sarka Grabmullerova established a lead on the run. Ebrenova then went solo on the bike and ski, coasting to her second con- secutive world title. Behind her, Norway's Elizabeth Sveum overtook Grabmullerova in the bike leg and stayed there to claim silver, with Grabmullevora coll- ecting bronze.
