A plan to go out hard in the run paid off for the reig- ning Under23 World Champion as she stole the show in her first World Triathlon Series win. A solid swim laid the foundation for her race, where she worked herself into the lead group on the bike and didn't look back in the 10km run in a field full of favo- urites. "The plan was to go off really hard in the run which I did," Stanford said. "And I'm not going to lie, in the second lap of the run I thought 'oh no, I've gone off far too hard'. But I managed to hold it together and I could see the gap increasing which gives you confi- dence." Behind Stanford, Anne Haug continued her con- sistently strong season with another great bike leg leading her to silver while Jodie Stimpson clim- bed up the overall rankings with a bronze medal. Gwen Jorgensen's fourth place was enough for her to hold onto the overall series lead.
