TRIATHLON HISTORY
Experience & Expertise
The City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Local Organizing
Committee (LOC) have almost 20 years of experience in
hosting successful ITU events. The City of Edmonton and
the LOC set a new standard for ITU with the 2001 ITU World
Championship - the first world championship following ITU's
tremendous success with the inaugural Olympic Triathlon in the
2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
After 2001, ITU requested that Edmonton take a regular spot
on the ITU World Cup circuit. The success was continued
with 6 subsequent world cups, several continental cups and
championships, national championships, technical officials'
courses as well as youth and junior camps.
