Hawrelak Park
William Hawrelak Park is situated in the heart of Edmonton, only a few minutes from
the downtown core. This beautiful landscape is a 68-hectare park in the river valley
featuring a 5-hectare lake and open grassy areas. The park hosts several major festivals
and events throughout the year and is a fantastic location for all Edmontonians and
visitors to explore. A free shuttle from the University of Alberta will be offered to anyone
wanting to come and watch the races. Permanent indoor washrooms and accessible
portable toilets will be available on site during festival hours. An operations crew will be
in charge of emptying trash and recycle bins throughout the week in order to maintain a
clean environment.
Approximately 8-10 food vendors and 20+ expo vendors will be on site and open during
festival hours. A Wi-Fi network will be established for all necessary parties. Two large
screens will show a live feed of the elite races to the beer gardens and grandstands. A
PA system will be integrated into all festival areas so that athletes and spectators are
aware of commentary and advertising of sponsors and races. ITU staff will have access
to food, internet, office supplies and a necessary workspace.
