The Lausanne 2019 difference Lausanne 2019 can offer more than just staging a great sporting event. Once again, Lausan- ne wants to assist the ITU to enter a whole new era for Triathlon. With its unique heritage, strong expertise and unlimited ambition for the sport, Lausanne can add value to the sport and more broadly to Triathlon by proposing visible changes in its approach while setting new standards for years to come. › New set-up. The Grand Final has been designed to make the most of the Olympic Ca- pital and to take advantage of its many assets. The course is designed to bring the city of Lausanne to life and, in the same time, to be challenging enough for the athletes to enjoy it from the start to the very end where it will finish in a brand new stadium-like structure by the lake. The stadium will bring people together and create an incredible atmosphere that will benefit both the athletes and the fans. The location, the place de la Navigation, will offer magnificent views on Lake Geneva and the Alps. › New programme. In order to build more excitement around the event and to help the sport to be even more successful in the future among the youth, Lausanne 2019 propose to organise a Mixed Team Relay before the Grand Final elite event. It would be the perfe- ct opportunity to promote the sport in a different way just one year before an important Olympic year for the ITU. Adding the Team Relay would broaden the reach of Triathlon and it would be highly spectacular with the Olympic Capital as a backdrop and in the stadium on big screens. The ITU village will also be part of the festivities throughout the week as it will create a festive atmosphere where people will naturally gather and enjoy the event. › New visibility. Because the event would be hosted just one year before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and just a few months before the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games, Lausanne would put a very special emphasis on international communication and branding for the event. 2019 will be the occasion to gather the entire Olympic Family, summer and winter, in the celebration of one of the purest expression of Olympic sport: Triathlon. A great opportunity for the sport to shine and for the ITU to move to the next level. The Olympic Capital wants to contribute – and be part of Triathlon's future from 2019 and beyond. Ho- sting the 2019 Grand Final in Lausanne will be highly beneficial for the sport in terms of image and branding. Bringing the Triathlon at the hearth of the Olympic Capital, just one year before Tokyo 2020, would be ideal to make the sport shine in front of the eyes of the world and in front of the IOC. It will reinforce the Olympic status of the ITU and, by doing so, Lausanne wants to help the ITU getting to the next level by playing an active role. Lausanne wants to be fully part of the Triathlon's future by staging a new and exciting Grand Final in the Olympic Capital. 16 – ITU Triathlon Grand Final
