ZOFINGEN LOVES LONG
DISTANCE DUATHLON
POOLEY, ODEYN PUSH THE PACE
For the sixth consecutive year and the ninth time in
history, the ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon
World Championships was decided in the small and
scenic Swiss town of Zofingen.
Olympic cyclist Emma Pooley continued to impress
the multisport world when she won the Long Distance
Duathlon world crown, setting a new record as the first
woman to win three of the world titles in a row over
the 10km run, 150km cycle, 30km run course. Behind
her, Nina Brenn (SUI) made it onto her first World
Championship podium with silver, improving her 2015
performance by three spots, while Susanne Svendsen
(DEN) rounded out the podium with a bronze medal for
the second year in a row.
In the men's race Seppe Odeyn (BEL) won his first-ever
World Championship title. Felix Köhler (GER) took an
impressive second place in just his first ITU race as an
elite. Last year, he raced in the men's 30-34 age group
race, which he won by nearly 20 minutes. Soren Bystrup
(DEN) stepped on the podium for third.
