143 TRIATHLON WORLD CUP RACES I WORLD TRIATHLON 2017
With 50 athletes taking the start line in the
Mediterranean sea, the Cagliari course again proved
itself fast and furious, and one of the toughest of the
World Cup circuit.
Jolanda Annen led the women's field from the start
and kept up the momentum to secure the victory and
a second World Cup win of her career. Kirsten Kasper
(USA) and Joanna Brown (CAN) completed the podium.
With the sun out and the water at 23 degrees on the
magnificent port for the men's race, it was a perfect set
up for another Swiss triathlete, Adrien Briffod, to surprise
everyone with a big win in a race with plenty of major
names on the start list. South African Henri Schoeman
and France's Anthony Pujades finished in second and third
place respectively.
