JUNIOR
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
LINDEMANN LINES UP BACK TO BACK TITLES
When thunderstorms caused the men's 2015 ITU
World Championship junior race to be delayed and
shifted to a duathlon, Manoel Messias (BRA) seized
the opportunity to strike hot, scoring his first world
title in Chicago. The title was the first time Brazil
was represented on the top of the podium at the
Junior World Championship race. In a feisty battle
down the finish cute, Messias shot past Germany's
Peer Sonksen and France's Leo Bergere, who took
second and third, respectively.
In the women's junior race, Laura Lindemann was
crowned the 2015 Junior World Champion for the
second year in a row, giving Germany its fourth
medal of the Grand Final week. Known for her
strength on the run, Lindemann was already in solid
position as she was one of the first athletes to hit
the second transition. From there it was her race to
lose, which wasn't in the cards for this powerhouse.
Taking up the last two positions on the podium was
Taylor Knibb (USA), who earned the silver medal, and
Lotte Miller (NOR), who was took home an emotional
bronze medal.
