TRIATHLON 2015 · WORLD CUP SERIES 164
CHENGDU – WORLD CUP
RETURNS TO CHINA
FISHER & TOMLIN TAKE TITLES
Joining the ITU World Cup circuit just last year,
Chengdu was the third stop of the 2015 season.
Ryan Fisher showcased that he could survive
through three disciplines of athletes banding
together and forming gigantic packs, by claiming
the top of the podium. Leaving it all up to a sprint
finish, Fisher was able to break away at the very end
to cross the finish line at 1:46:07 and claim his first
gold medal since he won the 2013 Ishigaki ITU
World Cup. Rostyslav Pevtsov (AZE) walked away
with the silver medal, while Kevin McDowell (USA)
won the bronze on a grueling day. The women's
race saw a battle of who can outrun the heat.
Renee Tomlin demonstrated her athletic ability by
not only taking home the gold medal, but did so in a
come-from-behind performance. Coming home in
second on the day was Arina Shulgina (RUS), while
third-place went to Lisa Perterer (AUT).
