Despite the ups and downs of a tumultuous
2020, it managed to be another strong year for
exclusive content, campaigns and race action on
World Triathlon's very own home of live and on-
demand multisports, TriathlonLIVE.tv.
It all began back in February with full coverage
of the World Para Triathlon Series in Devonport,
Australia, before the action moved up the coast
to Queensland, where the Mooloolaba World Cup
took place in March.
The packed 2020 schedule then came to a halt
just ahead of the first World Series of the year,
WTS Abu Dhabi, due to the global pandemic.
With millions around the world in lockdown,
TriathlonLIVE.tv offered a 365-day free trial,
inviting all multisport fans the chance to enjoy its
huge archive of racing, interviews and exclusive
features going back 30 years. Almost 5,000 users
quickly took advantage of the offer.
With less live coverage available, viewer
engagement was maintained via a range of
classic race replays featuring live comments and
commentary from elite athletes including Alistair
and Jonathan Brownlee, Javier Gomez, Katie
Zaferes, Rachel Klamer, Angie Olmo and Richard
Murray. Epic sprint finishes, Mixed Relays and a
retrospective of ten years of WTS Yokohama were
among the highlights rebroadcast for thousands
of subscribers to enjoy all over again.
Further campaigns, including a TriAtHome series
that saw athletes provide tips on everything from
staying in shape during lockdown to cooking,
and the educational and development webinars
held in English and Spanish, kept subscribers
entertained during the middle part of the year as
the world awaited the return to live sports.
It was finally back to the blue carpet in September
and a new course in Hamburg, Germany, outside
of the city centre. Subscriptions spiked with the
anticipation running hot as the event became the
de facto 2020 World Championships and a brilliant
weekend of racing ensued, with the individual
events followed by the Mixed Relay World
Championships, all streamed live on TriathlonLIVE.

race interviews.
The World Cup season was revived just a
week later in the Czech town of Karlovy Vary,
before moving on to Arzachena, Italy, where
the best athletes in the world continued to fill
the start lists in a bid to maximise their racing
opportunities. The curtailed season then drew to
a close with the Valencia World Cup in Spain and
Alhandra Para Triathlon World Cup in Portugal,
again streamed in full on TriathlonLIVE.tv.
Other live events brought to subscribers over
2020 and still available to watch on demand
include the XTERRA Czech and Molveno
short-track, the Swiss and Spanish National
Championships, Austria's Poderstorf and the
SuperLeague Arena Games Rotterdam.
