ATHLETES' BIOS - WOMEN RSA SIMONE ACKERMANN Simone Ackermann has plenty of race experience on the World Triathlon stage and has been pursuing her Olympic dream to represent South Africa since 2016 when she transitioned from representing New Zealand. She grew up in South Africa before moving to Whangarei, New Zealand. The 31-year-old won the recent Africa Triathlon title at Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt in June and is the top ranked athlete in the continental rankings ahead of compatriot Gillian Sanders. Ackermann will be ready to fight and enjoy her first Olympic experience at Tokyo 2020.
