ALEXIS HANQUINQUANT In August 2010, at the age of 24, Alexis Hanquinquant suffered a leg injury at work. Despite several months of hospitalisation and numerous surgeries, the limb still could not be saved, resulting in a straight transtibial amputation in 2013. Before the accident, Alexis was an active sportsman, including basketball. After it, he turned to para triathlon, going on to become one of the sport's true greats. Rarely off the top of the podium since his first World Championship win in 2017, he successfully defended that title on the Gold Coast and again in Lausanne, and won silver at the Tokyo Test Event in 2019.
