ALEXANDRE PAVIZA One morning in 2009, Alexandre Paviza woke up unable to walk, his doctors eventually diagnosing him with polyradiculoneuritis, an inflammation of the peripheral nervous system. Advised to keep up physical activity, he became a regular at the local pool. Then at the age of 40, his family and friends gave him a handbike and he went on to complete the 1370km Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Since taking up triathlon in 2013, Paviza has been a regular on the biggest podiums around the world, including Series gold in Edmonton and Para World Cup wins in Besançon and Banyoles.
