HECTOR CATALA LAPARRA GUSTAVO RODRÍGUEZ (GUIDE) Consistently one of the fastest runners over 5km in the visually impaired class, Hector Catala Laparra is also among the most decorated PTVI athletes of the last five years. Suffering from a degenerative disease of the eyes as a yong man, Laparra's sight began to deteriorate dramatically whilst at university where he was encouraged to take up triathlon to cope. At first struggling with the athlete-guide relationship, the Spaniard has gone on to thrive in the sport and, after winning the world title in 2019, will be gunning for the medals in Tokyo as his class makes its Paralympic debut.
