JAIRO RUIZ LOPEZ Spain's Jairo Lopez won Paralympic bronze at Rio 2016 after moving to the sport from a successful early swimming career. Born without a left hand or forearm, Lopez was a multiple national champion in the pool before discovering triathlon in 2011 and making steady progress until topping his first major podium in Iseo in 2014. A multiple Aquathlon and Duathlon World Champion, the 32-year-old finished third at the inaugural WTPS Leeds in June and second at the Para Cup A Coruna, setting himself up for a big medal push in Tokyo.
