13 May 2023 Elite Women Coldwell conquers all in Yokohama Britain's Sophie Coldwell found herself on top of the world in Japan after following her Abu Dhabi silver with a magnificent first Series gold in Yokohama. One of eight women out of the water in close company and onto the 40km bike. China's Yifan Yang was first to drop off the pace, leaving seven to slice through the heavy rain and open up a big margin on the chasers, powered on by USA's Taylor Knibb. Out of T2 it was Coldwell and Taylor Spivey together but the Brit knew her form was good and upped the pace, calmly running solo for 10km to the gold. Rosa Tapia was flying, too, carving through the field to win a massive silver for Mexico, Knibb holding on for bronze ahead of Spivey and Kate Waugh. "I'll try not to cry, it's like a dream. I can't really believe it. Hopefully this is another step forward to try and make that Olympic team." Sophie Coldwell 15 contents
