3 Mar 2023 Elite Men First blood to Yee in Abu Dhabi It was back to Abu Dhabi for the first stop of the 2023 Series, and Alex Yee quickly banished any lingering memories of the Championship Finals just a few months prior with a consummate display in the UAE heat. Finding himself 30 seconds back out of the water, he bridged the gap to the leaders early on in the 20km bike and then saw off a stacked field of running talent. By the closing stages it had boiled down to Yee, Vasco Vilaca and Manoel Messias for the medals, the Portuguese and Brazilian talents winning silver and bronze respectively. New Zealand's Hayden Wilde suffered a puncture that took him out of contention early, while Vincent Luis and Dorian Coninx showed the French force would be one to be reckoned with again in 2023. "I came here with no expectations and raced free and I guess that's the outcome when you enjoy what you're doing!" Alex Yee 9 contents
