The final action of a glittering 2023 World Triathlon Multisports Championships Ibiza saw Frenchman Clement Mignon win the men's Long Distance world title in dramatic fashion. It was no surprise to see Richard Varga and Josh Amberger first to emerge from the 3km swim, Britain's Joe Skipper finding himself over six minutes back. Mignon, Bogen and Benito were riding well together over the final stages of the near-120km ride, Varga sitting two-and-a- half minutes back and a mechanical costing him dearly. Mignon crashed into T2 but composed himself, Bogen also struggling to click into gear on the first run lap as Benito seized the initiative. With just a lap to go, it looked like he had the race sewn up, but Mignon summoned a big push the reserves for one final push, drawing up on the Spaniard who had nothing left to respond to take the tape with delight, Benito safely over for silver ahead of South Africa's Matt Trautman. 7 May 2023 Long Distance Triathlon - Elite Men 173 contents
