24 Jun 2023 Elite Women Potter on top of the world with Montreal win It was a second gold for Beth Potter as the Brit dug deep to take the tape in Montreal. Katie Zaferes was the latest returning US legend but the 750m swim was dominated by Vittoria Lopes and Taylor Knibb. Knibb had hit the gas knowing a penalty awaited in T1 and she was still able to make the front pack and then break away only Summer Rappaport going with her. The pair were racked and running with daylight behind them, but Jeanne Lehair, Leonie Periault and Potter were soon cutting into that lead on lap one. Knibb faded, then Lehair was dropped, and it became a three-way shootout for the medals, Potter summoning the decisive final kick to the line just ahead of Periault, Rappaport in third ahead of Lehair and Zaferes. "I didn't have a great swim today but I just made sure I stayed cool and calm and worked hard on the first two laps of the bike and got back on… that's a big confidence boost."
