After a swim that left the rest of the field chasing the 19-year-old's wake, Tabea Huys of Austria giving chase 25 seconds back, the bike packs eventually came together. The rain and slick course conditions saw several athletes come down and the field splintered over the last lap. Hadhoum herself almost came off after slipping off the pedal by the dismount line, but she rallied and steadied, the lead 10 seconds over Manon Laporte after lap one, before completing a title-winning 5km to the gold, Mexico's Jimena de la Pena finishing strongly to take the silver ahead of Laporte. 44 contents
