The 2023 World Triathlon Cup in Yeongdo, South Korea, saw 43 women tackle the sprint-distance race in hot and humid conditions. Slovakia's Zuzana Michalickova led the 750m swim, creating a small break with Hungary's Márta Kropkó, Austria's Sara Vilic, and Canada's Sophia Howell, Annika Koch also positioned comfortably within the front group. The bike leg saw the leaders, including Bermuda's Erica Hawley and Austria's Lisa Perterer, joined by a chase group, with Germany's Annika Koch driving the pace ahead. Mexico's Cecilia Perez worked hard to stay with the leaders in the challenging conditions and it was Koch, Kropko, and Desirae Ridenour smoothly transitioning and out first onto the 5km run. Koch broke clear and continued to extend her lead, dominating the run and securing gold, Slovakia's Romana Gajdošová claimed silver, and Bermuda's Hawley earned a first bronze in a fiercely contested race. 5 Aug 2023 Elite Women 66 contents
