3 March 2023 Elite Women Potter gets campaign off to flying start Beth Potter earned her first Series gold in Abu Dhabi to get her 2023 title challenge up and running. It was a brilliant swim that put her right into contention early on, teammate Sophie Coldwell incurring a penalty for an over-eager false start, but the pair formed part of a six-deep breakaway on the bike along with the likes of USA duo Taylor Spivey and Summer Rappaport. Coldwell led onto the run and just as the Americans started to fade at the bell, the Brit put the hammer down. Potter reacted well, then made her own attack on the final hill, eventually finding daylight and pulling clear to the tape ahead of Coldwell, Spivey with bronze from Rappaport and Cassandre Beaugrand. "It's always a bit of an unknown the first race of the season, but I've been training well and Johnny (Brownlee) texted me last night and said 'you're gonna win' and I couldn't believe it!" Beth Potter. 11 contents
