World Triathlon Para Series Yokohama Germany's Paralympic champion Martin Schulz was the first to a 2023 WTPS Yokohama gold in May, dominating the men's PTS5 race from beginning to end. The German showed a relatively young field the class that makes him the one to beat at Paris 2024. Australia's rising talent Jack Howell managed to hold off his teammate David Bryan to grab the silver medal, same that he got in Devonport a couple of months ago, while Bryant crossed the finish line in third place. The women's PTS5 had one of the smaller fields of the day, Gwladys Lemoussu putting up a fantastic effort to cross the finish line in first place, followed by newcomer Cristina Miranda Zambrano. French superstar Alexis Hanquinquant has not lost a single race since 2019, and crossed the finish line with the biggest win margin of the day, three and a half minutes over Carson Clough, who had a promising debut in one of the toughest classes, Eric Mcelvenny with bronze. On the Women's side, Kelly Elmlinger brought home another gold medal for Team USA, while Australia's Sally Pilbeam crossed the finish line in second place, more than five minutes behind the winner, Emma Meyers of USA with PTS4 bronze. The Men's PTS3 class, one of the new additions to the Paralympic programme for Paris 2024, saw victory for another German, Max Gelhaar, who produced an incredible swim to pull clear and stay away for the gold medal. Behind him, second to cross the finish line was GBR's Colin Wallace, while Frenchman Michael Herter finished in third. The men's PTS2 class saw Geoffrey Wersy of France grab the gold medal, his bike and run splits fast enough to pass teammate Stephane Bahier just before crossing the line, while USA's Mohammed Lahna finished in the third place. In the women's race, USA produced a magnificent podium sweep, with Haley Danz finishing with the gold followed by Melissa Stockwell and Allysa Seely. A historic win for Jumpei Kimura saw him cheered home by the crowds in Yokohama. Howie Sanborn produced another strong performance to claim the silver, while Aussie Nic Beveridge finished in third. In the women's category, Australia's Lauren Parker avenged her Paralympic defeat by Kendall Gretsch, finishing a minute ahead of the American, bronze to Jessica Ferreira. USA's Owen Cravens, still only 20 years old, earned the first WTPS gold of his career after grabbing the tape ahead of two much more experienced couples of visually impaired athletes: Paul Lloveras and Satoru Yonoeka. Another solid performance from Paralympic champion Susana Rodriguez added another gold medal to the Spaniard's tally, finishing more than six minutes ahead of American Mcclain Hermes in second, bronze to Canada's Jessica Tuomela. 132 contents
