World Triathlon Para Series Montreal Stefan Daniel was unstoppable at the Gilles Villeneuve F1 track, Montreal, securing a home win in the men's PTS5 class finishing almost 15 seconds ahead of American Chris Hammer, bronze on the day went to Ronan Cordeiro of Brazil. In the women's race, USA's Grace Norman won gold just ahead of Britain's Tokyo Paralympic champion Lauren Steadman. Further joy for the local crowds came as Kamylle Frenette secured bronze. Frenchman Alexis Hanquinquant continued his dominance of the men's PTS4 class with another victory in Montreal. His lead was significant - over three minutes - but it was fantastic to see two new faces on the podium, with silver to USA's Carson Clough while third place went to Croatia's Antonio Franko. On the women's side, it was clear that if there's a class in which USA can pin their hopes for a Paris 2024 gold, it is PTS4, with Kelly Elmlinger, Emma Meyers and Kendra Herber producing a podium sweep. Dutchman Nico Van Der Burgt crossed the finish line for PTS3 gold, proving that he wants to make the most of the Paralympic debut for his class in September, while Frenchman Cedric Denuziere won the silver, the young Aussie Justin Godfrey in third place. On the women's side, gold went to the sole competitor, Mexico's Kenia Villalobos, the category being the only one without a Paralympic medal to contend in Paris. Another Dutchman, Maurits Morsink, managed to come from over three minutes back out of the swim to claim victory in the men's PTS2 class, his powerful bike segment impossible to match for USA's Mohamed Lahna, who ended up with silver, bronze on the day was for Wilm De Paepe. The women's race saw gold and silver for Team USA, with Hailey Danz adding to her already impressive collection of titles, Melissa Stockwell with silver, Japan's Yukako Hata bronze. Paralympic champion Susana Rodriguez was again the fastest in the PTVI despite a slow start, while behind her, Irish star Chloe Maccombe stepped on her first WTPS podium, silver adding to the one she earned at the Commonwealth Games, Heloise Courvoisier with bronze. The men's race saw the return to the WTPS podium of Spain's Paralympic silver medallist Hector Catala Laparra, after a fierce battle with GB's Oscar Kelly, who took silver and the fastest run split on the day, Kyle Coon with bronze. The latest battle between Lauren Parker (AUS) and Kendall Gretsch (USA) ended with the young Aussie claiming the gold almost three minutes ahead of the American, Brazil's Jessica Ferreira claiming the bronze, only 10 seconds behind Gretsch. On the men's side, USA's Howie Sanborn stepped up to the top of the podium and his second victory of the season for him so far after out-running Nic Beveridge and Jumpei Kimura, silver and bronze on the day. 135 contents
