Vetle Bergsvik Thorn mirrored the success of his teammate Solveig Lovseth to become the 2023 men's European Games champion in Krakow. Thorn came out on top after a nail-biting sprint finish, securing victory ahead of Shachar Sagiv (ISR) and Adrien Briffod (SUI) who claimed silver and bronze, respectively. Under the sun at Nova Huta Lake, 58 men embarked on the second triathlon race of the European Games. The swim saw a bold move from Mitch Kolkman (NED), setting a blistering pace alongside Michele Sarzilla (ITA) and Hungarians Gergely Kiss and Gergo Dobi. Thorn was trailing out of transition and onto the bike leg before a coordinated effort helped bridge the gap. A compact group of 12 athletes then began a tactical battle on the run, with Thorn's decisive push in the final stretch earning him the gold. Sagiv and Briffod claimed silver and bronze, solidifying Norway's dominance in triathlon at the European Games. The youngest French athlete on the field today, Yanic Seguin, claimed fourth place, with Greece's Panagiotis Bitados thrilled to close the top five. 28 Jun 2023 European Games - Elite Men 192 contents
