Potter in Pontevedra paradise Second in the rankings to Cassandre Beaugrand heading into the Championship Finals Pontevedra, Beth Potter knew that gold would also guarantee a first world title. It was Beaugrand out of the water with a precious early lead. Potter with work to be done to get on the front bike pack. Working well with Kate Waugh to bridge up, from that point on, the front group hoovered up the course and 15 athletes came into T2 together. Potter, Waugh and Emma Lombardi soon earned some daylight over Beaugrand, and the French number one looked adrift. An early surge from the British pair saw them establish a lead that they would never relinquish, flying through the 10km to take gold and silver, Beaugrand recovering over the final lap and delivering a big finish for bronze. 24 Sep 2023 Elite Women "This has been a dream season.
