The women's Tiszaujvaros World Cup, saw Italy's Bianca Seregni dominate the 750m swim, quickly establishing a huge 30-second lead over Hungary's Zsanett Bragmayer and the rest of the field. Belgium's Jolien Vermeylen also gave chase, but Seregni maintained her lead until the halfway point, when she became the last to be hoovered up by the Solveig Lovseth-spearheaded chasers. The Norwegian then tried her own break, but it was Bragmayer who smoothly transitioned into the 5km run, leading a pack that included Vermeylen, Lovseth, Angelica Prestia, and Marta Pintanel Raymundo. Spain's Noelia Juan then hit the front over the closing stages and she looked to have done enough to earn a first gold, only for Sweden's Tilda Mansson to surge past right at the tape and secure a thrilling victory by a fraction of a second, Juan with silver, Vermeylen crossing for bronze. 8-9 Jul 2023 Elite Women 62 contents
