Fresh from securing her Paris 2024 Olympic qualification, Germany's Lisa Tertsch delivered a standout performance to take gold in the first ever Tangier World Cup. The sprint race featured a beach start for the 750m swim in the chilly Atlantic, Hungary's Zsanett Kuttor-Bragmayer, France's Mathilde Gaultier, and Austria's Therese Feuersinger leading the swim and establishing a small gap over the field to exit transition almost ten seconds ahead a chasing group. Lotte Miller, Claire Michel, Vicky Holland and Jolien Vermeylen helped them stay in check before Miller made her solo break to join the leaders. The gap never went above 30 seconds, though, and that was all Tertsch needed to know as she picked her way towards them on the 5km run with Spain's Noelia Juan. A well- timed final burst from the German secured her the gold, Juan claimed the silver, solidifying her standing as a rising talent and likewise Sweden's Tilda Mansson, as she powered into the bronze medal position. 1 Oct 2023 Elite Women 82 contents
