Bianca Seregni of Italy once again showcased her exceptional swimming prowess, this time in the Chengdu World Cup, as she carved out a huge 40-second lead across the 1.5km swim. Chinese athlete Xinyu Lin followed in second, with a main chase pack featuring Hungary's Márta Kropkó and Claire Michel in hot pursuit. Seregni maintained her lead over the opening laps of the bike until joined by Lin and teammate Yifan Yang, but a group of 22 women eventually came together as Slovakia's Ivana Kuriackova and New Zealand's Eva Goodisson drove the chasers up to the front. It was Goodison who was fastest in transition as Seregni faltered briefly, but it wasn't long before the young Italian talent hit the front once more and then started to pull clear of the field. Seregni would eventually take the tape by over 20 seconds, and it was Claire Michel hanging tough for the silver ahead of Italy's Ilaria Zane with the bronze. 14 Oct 2023 Elite Women 90 contents
